Mission Statement

"To be the leading company in all that we do and be the standard by which others are judged."

Principles

Thanks to the merger with LINPAC Containers, DS Smith Packaging is now stronger than ever. In order to reinforce the successful blending of two dynamic cultures, we have developed a clear vision, mission and set of values behind which all our different businesses are united.

The very first of these principles is "We are one company". This merger of two leading companies with long and well established traditions and track records of success means we will need to work closely together, recognising the strengths that we have as a combined business. We believe there is value in having strong independent sites with a collegiate culture in which people come together to share information and co-operate openly to the benefit of all.

The second principle is "We will establish the highest standards of health, safety and environmental practice". This principle highlights our wish to have a culture which puts safety at the top of our agenda.

The third principle is "We will operate with integrity in an open style". Developing trust between colleagues will help foster a culture of openness and that in turn will engender closer relationships between ourselves and with our customers.

"We will focus on objectives, not just tasks, which drive business goals". The fourth principle relates to the way we should keep the 'bigger picture' in mind as we work on specific projects. It is the leadership's job to provide clear overall goals and targets but we all need to assess our priorities and make sure they are in line with what we are trying to achieve as a whole.

The fifth principle is all about a culture of initiative and innovation. It says "We will create an environment which encourages winning initiatives and achievement of business goals". This principle highlights how important it is, in a modern company, to release the potential for good ideas which every individual has. After all, who knows better how to make improvements than the people doing the work?

In the same vein the next principle says "We will recognise, encourage and support high performance". Our expectations are high. We have the people. We need to create and maintain an environment which allows individuals to perform to their full potential.

Our final principle is "We believe that long term relationships can only be based on fairness and mutual benefit". This very important statement interweaves with all the other principles and applies to colleagues, customers, suppliers and everyone else with whom we do business.
